On February 13th, much of the Christian world will begin the celebration of Lent, a time of prayer and fasting in preparation for the celebration of Christ's resurrection at Easter. We spend 40 days reflecting on the trials and tribulations of Christ, walking that journey with him to the cross. We recognize our sins and the areas in our lives that need to change.

During this month of February, my challenge to you is to spend some time reflecting on your life; your relationships, your responsibilities, your job, your faith...whatever areas may need to change. Perhaps your marriage could be stronger. Maybe you need to renew your commitment to your responsibilities. Someone with whom you work may need a little extra help or just a smile and handshake. It could be a great opportunity to carve out more time each day to meditate or pray.

None of us are perfect. We all can use a little extra encouragement from time to time. We all have areas in our lives that need a little improvement. As the cold of winter gives way to the new life and warmth of spring, may we recognize in our lives what could be better, and may we commit ourselves to making the needed changes so that we all may live a more productive and joyful life.
