Colonel Greg Johnson is the Deputy Wing Commander at the 189th Airlift Wing, Arkansas Air National Guard, Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas. As the Deputy Commander, Col. Johnson advises the commander in directing the combined efforts of all operations and support activities of the wing. He provides direction to wing leaders regarding combat-ready aircrew training, cyberspace operations, deployment readiness and domestic emergency response. Col. Johnson is responsible for the readiness, training and safety of 1,000 Airmen across wing staff, four groups and 11 squadrons. He works in concert with the 19th Airlift Wing (AMC), the 314th Airlift Wing (AETC) and 913th Airlift Group (AFRC).
Col. Johnson received his commission from the Academy of Military Science in 2004 before earning his intelligence officer's badge in 2005. He served in a variety of positions in the 123rd Intelligence Squadron, ultimately becoming the 123rd Intelligence Squadron Director of Operations in 2013 supporting Air Force distributed common ground system. In 2017, Col. Johnson became the 288th Operational Support Squadron Commander providing training, mission management and scheduling for intelligence operations at Ebbing ANGB, AR. In 2020, Col. Johnson became the commander of the 123rd, leading the squadron from DGS operations to AF NextGen intelligence operations. In July 2021, Col Johnson moved to the 189th Airlift Wing as the Deputy Mission Support Group Commander, then took command of the 189th Mission Support Group in October 2023.
